For the first time on any physical format, Terror Vision Records is proud to present the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Terror Train! Composed by one of Canada's most influential electronic musicians, John Mills-Cockell was a pioneering artist whose work with avant-garde groups Intersystems and Syrinx helped shape the country's experimental music scene. An early champion of the Moog synthesizer, he became known for his compositions across radio, television, film, ballet, and theater. Mills-Cockell would later score another Canadian slasher, Humongous (1982), as well as one of John Candy's earliest films, The Clown Murders (1976).
His work on Terror Train has long been considered one of the film's most underrated strengths and remains a favorite among genre enthusiasts for its bold fusion of traditional brass and electronics. The music felt remarkably modern for 1980, blending classical instrumentation with forward-thinking electronic textures that helped distinguish it from many horror scores of the era. At times, it even mirrors the rhythm of the locomotive itself, chugging along as it builds suspense and tension. Paired with John Alcott's beautiful cinematography, it's a major reason Terror Train feels more polished and atmospheric than many of its slasher contemporaries.
Terror Train follows a group of college students celebrating a New Year's Eve costume party aboard a moving train, only to find themselves hunted by a masked killer who uses the guests' disguises to move unnoticed through the crowd. As the body count rises and paranoia spreads from car to car, the celebration gives way to a desperate fight for survival.
Released during the first wave of the slasher cycle, the film distinguished itself through its unique setting, polished production values, and Jamie Lee Curtis's commanding lead performance, earning a reputation as one of the strongest and most stylish slashers of the early 1980s.
Terror Vision worked directly with John Mills-Cockell to prepare this release from the original master tapes, assembling every piece of music he composed for Terror Train, including the complete score, songs, and a selection of previously unheard extras. The result is the definitive edition of a soundtrack long thought to be lost and one that fans have been hoping to hear in its complete form for decades.
The packaging includes:
• The complete John Mills-Cockell score to Terror Train, spanning 39 tracks and more than 85 minutes of music, available for the first time on any physical format. 2XLP housed in printed inner sleeves with a deluxe gatefold jacket
• New artwork by Earl Kess, integrated with a collection of classic film imagery
• Extensive liner notes by Aaron Lupton, Music Editor for Rue Morgue Magazine and author of Blood on Black Wax
• Mastered by Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room
• Pressed at Terror Vision's in-house facility, Graveface Press
There’s also an extremely limited option featuring three hand-painted resin figures by artist Roger Russell, with only 25 sets available. Each figure stands approximately 4 inches tall and 1½ inches wide on a 2-inch base.
Every figure is individually painted by hand, making each set slightly different and truly one-of-a-kind. Bring Groucho, The Reptilian, and Old Hag home, but don’t wait. Once these 25 sets are gone, they’re gone!
